Pentecost Sunday 2003 marked a new step in the history of Our Lady of the Magnificat Parish.  After several months of evaluation, listening and deciding, nine names were chosen from those nominated to be members of the first Parish Council of OLM.  The parish council serves as an advisory board to the pastor.  The mission of the council is summed up on seven elements:   Evangelization, Worship, Word, Community, Service, Stewardship, and leadership.   There are seven elements able to see where OLM parish should be in the future.  The members are challenged to look at the present ministries, projects, concerns and see how effective they are and what the future shape of the parish will be like.

The members of the council will serve terms of varying lengths.  At the first meeting of the council on October 4, 2003 the length of each members service was determined by lottery.  Here are the results:

The following members of the parish council will serve a three year term:

ANDY BONIFACE --- ELLEN SHARKEY --- JOE WICKHAM

Those chosen to server a two year term are:

FRANCISCO PINI --- MICHAEL MCLOUGHLIN -- ROBERT STACK

Those who will serve a one year term are:

LISA HILLS, CANDICE BIERMAN --- BILL SHARKEY

In addition to the nine elected members of the council, Msgr. Carroll and the professional staff:  Msgr. Goode, Sr. Ellen O'Conner, Mr. Michael Pierce, and Mrs. Judith Clayton are ex officio members, as well as Mr. Ted Howard, president of the parish finance board.

Meetings will be held 3-4 times per year and the minutes can be read when posted on this web site.
